Q: What's the focus of webSavant?
A: In a nutshell: real-world learning. The best way to teach how to build and post a web site is to actually do it, and then show how it's all done. That's the focus of webSavant -- reverse-engineering this very site. All the elements, including the graphics, text, interactivity, and the code that ties it all together, are broken down, isolated, and recreated in a series of step-by-step tutorials that are clear and easy to understand. It doesn't get any more real-world than that.

Q: Who can use webSavant?
A: Anyone with an inkling of a desire to build a web site. If you're new to the game, we step you through the basics of formatting a page in HTML, and build your skills from there. If you're a bit more versed, we bring you up to speed with the more advanced elements that you'll find throughout this site. In the Exempli Gratia ("For Example") section in particular, we show you some examples of cutting-edge implementations of JavaScript, Flash, CGI, and more. So we urge you to really dive in and explore, keeping in mind that webSavant shows you exactly how to do it all.

Q: How do we do it?
A: What makes webSavant so unique is that it's all done on-screen with voice-over narration. In other words, each tutorial pops up as a movie with a narrator who leads you through the instructions right there on your screen. The movies are created using motion screen-capture software that records all of our actions and comments which are then output to full-screen QuickTime movies. They're then shaped into a smart mutimedia presentation that's easy to use and navigate.
